JOAD ARCHERY PROGRAM
Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) This is a program for youth ages 10 and up and adults. Awards are earned based on scores and the youth can buy achievement pins to show there level of achievement. Prairie Bowmen can provide equipment or yu can use your own. The sessions are 10 weeks long and cost a total of $15.00 for Prairie Bowmen nonmembers and $12.00 for members. See calendar of events for starting dates. Bowhunter Education
Prairie Bowmen Lincoln have taken an active role in the Nebraska Bowhunter Education Program sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Currently the club hosts from six to eight classes per year with ten to twelve individuals certified as Bowhunter Education Instructors and two individuals certified Master Bowhunter Education Instructors.

Mentored Archery Youth Hunt Program
Another NGPC program that the Prairie Bowmen are heavily involved in is the Mentored Archery Youth Program. In it’s sixth year, this program pairs young bowhunters with experienced archers to hunt on highly productive lands during the archery deer season.
The program has strict guidelines and specific locations for the activity. To qualify as a mentor, the adult must be a Bowhunter Education Instructor for a least 3 consecutive years. Youths still in high school or younger than 18 years of age are eligible to apply for participation in the program. Applicants must have successfully completed a bowhunter education course, have their own equipment and qualify with their bow at different distances.

For the 8th consecutive year, Prairie Bowmen Club, is host to a free archery camp for kids. The day long activities consists of archery safety, arrow making, game animal calling techniques, set up for tree stand and ground blinds for hunting, demonstrations and discussion on compound and traditional archery equipment, types of competitive formats. In addition, there are contests, prizes, and fun for all! The age limit in this activity is 8-15 years.
Member volunteers and area vendors/associations offer this camp to the youth in our community in order to foster a kid’s interest and possible further involvement in the sport of archery. For more information and registration contact Gary Waters.
Cornhusker State Games
The Prairie Bowmen Club has hosted the Summer Cornhusker State Games-Archery competition for several years running. Archers from around the State of Nebraska and specific counties in Iowa participant at all age and skill levels.
